Psychiatric and Mental Health nursing deals with the care of patients who have emotional and mental health concerns. This course will review the biopsychosocial model to examine the influence of multiple factors that influence mental health. Critical information is offered in the context of ethical and legal considerations related to mental health treatment. Diagnostic criteria and clinical features of common psychiatric disorders will be reviewed as well as the principles of pharmacology to identify and implement safe practices for psychotropic medication management.
